Left Behind

For my fellow LOST watchers, some observations and ramblings:
  • Juliet was not gassed and handcuffed to Kate by the Others. - We see her putting on a gas mask from outside Kate's window (I found a screen shot to confirm) so in my opinion, she is now a spy...since she has been branded by the Others after shooting/killing Pickett, I can only assume that she now needs to "repay" her debts to the society. Jack being the stubborn man that he is will not realize this, but it looks like next week Sayid is going to go head-to-head with Juliet which will be awesome since I love when Sayid goes all interrogator (so much better to watch than Jack Bauer...)
  • The fence WAS to keep Smokey out (but not originally). - There had been some speculation about this on the boards, but now it seems like we really do know. Now there is some discussion about why Smokey couldn't go over the fence (like our Losties did a few episodes ago) but my guess is that the sound is too harsh for Smokey to get close enough to go over the fence. It also sounds like the fence had another purpose when it was originally installed and keeping Smokey out was just an added perk. Why would they have built that fence? To keep our the Hostiles? Guess the Others told Juliet they would leave the fence off after they left through it (to go wherever they are going now...my guess...that big question mark from Locke's old map was an underground town...or to the lair of the Hostiles perhaps) so she's definitely suspicious.
  • Smokey flashed a white light on Juliet. - Locke said when he looked into the "eye of the island" (Smokey we assume) he saw a bright light. Ecko said he show darkness and images of his fallen past. Looks like "the island" thinks Juliet is still one of the "good guys" (the end justifies the means theory?) Was the white light also meant for Kate? Could the Others perceive Kate as "bad" but the island perceive Kate as "good"? Was Smokey out to kill Kate? Some people think that Smokey was "taking mental images" away from Juliet so that she can now be implanted into the Losties flashbacks. This comes from the group of LOST-bloggers that believe the flashbacks are only part reality and part island induced (basically all the "connections" are not genuine, some are planted...) I'm not 100% buying into that theory...I prefer to think all the "connections" are genuine and a crazy "six degrees of separation" gone wrong or something
  • Let's discuss the gas attack. Anyone notice that Jack took a whole extra day to wake up from being gassed? I didn't notice, but other people said they saw more than one canister of gas in Jack's little house and thought he was just gassed "more"..and some attributed it to the fact that Kate was outside for her "recovery" and that sped up the process. What about Sayid, do we think he was gassed too?

Interesting tidbits/questions:

  • Mouse Trap game is seen again in Kate's room where she is locked up (in a previous Locke flashback we see him explaining Mouse Trap to a kid in a toy store/Target? where he worked saying it was one of his favorite games) and Juliet mentions how much Ben likes mind games...so does Locke.
  • Sayid checked those houses really fast for guns and people...was Sayid awake longer than Jack and just hadn't come to his house yet?
  • Locke looked awful banged up and even had a bandaged wrist when he went to tell Kate goodbye...what the heck did we miss?
  • Sawyer being conned was kinda awkward...remember when his voice was the only thing that would make Aaron stop crying? Guess that only worked for one episode and he's back to being frightened by babies.
  • September 24, 2004 - It was the date on the paper Paulo was reading in the airport when he and Nikki overheard Shannon and Boone fighting before the flight.
