The Beginning of the End

The Season 4 premire rocked. After months of waiting, mindlessly tuning into mediocre TV programming, the writers strike debacle, even more ridiculous TV programming there was a light...a bright light at the end of the tunnel that was our DVR programing schedule. LOST has returned. This season's premire didn't start off quite like the previous three, but rightly so in my opinion. We have come to a new "level" of LOST. As someone else has put it, this seaons seems to be the season of the Island.

A Hurley centric opener definitely caught me by surprise. I'm not ususally into spoilers, so this was new to me! I have to say, it was nice to take the focus off of Jack for awhile, granted he was a prominant part of Hurley's flashforward, but still...when we were watching the opening scene and I saw Jack making himself his morning screwdriver (pre-beard!) I was still pretty stoked. Then when I figured out by that chubby little hand sticking out of the car that Hurley would be the center of attention, honestly, I was a little confused. Usually Hurley's back-stories are comedic filler...we were promised no filler going forward after the producers/writers reached the "end date" agreement with ABC, so I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. They did not fail to deliver.

Things I noticed:
- Sawyer's accent got weird. "...survivin'."
- Ben's healing rather rapidly, as is Locke, thank you Island magic healing properties.
- There were tons of HO references (after reading a few postings on darkufo.blogspot.com I tend to think it was just a "yeah we know you're watching" from the producers; HO is an element with some crazy magnetic properties, a la the Island.)
- Apparently Hurley doesn't care if people think he's crazy anymore...
- Scary vistor man, I definitely don't think we've seen the last of him (Matthew Abbadon => "the destroyer") and I wouldn't bet the farm that he's an Oceanic attorney.
- Hurley saw Christian Shephard in Jacob's chair! And a mysterious eye (thank you for the iconic LOST eye =) ) And no, I don't think Christian is Jacob...

- Jack (makes my brain hurt...multiple universe theory fans love this one though!)
