The Fantastic, I mean, Freighter Four were the featured "character" of the week. I absolutely LOVED the way we were introduced to each of them individually, and then Naomi and Michael Abaddon pulled things together in the end. Awesome.
Daniel
All it really took was the physicist actually admitting he was a physicist to realize the freighter was not looking for survivors of Oceanic 815. This becomes more and more evident throughout the episode. What were they looking for? The Christiane 1 was a ship that discovered the wreckage of Oceanic 815 at the bottom of the Indian Ocean (while looking for the Black Rock). Greg Gumberg got a shout out with one freaky looking mug shot...and rediscovering Jeremy Davies gave me another reason for wanting to rent Rescue Dawn (Reason #1 - Christian Bale of course!)
Miles
What was up with the photo in the old grandma's house where the ghostbuster came to do his business? Obviously that photo was important...even a casual LOST viewer would have caught that...who is it? Any relation to the Losties we already know? Eko perhaps? Michael/Walt? How old was the picture, when did this particular ghostbusting scam happen? I'm not a fan of this Miles character, even if he did give Charlotte the bullet-proof vest that "saved her life" later in the episode, but more on that later.
Charlotte
What about the polar bear remains dug up by the anthropologist chick? Complete with Dharma Hydro Tags? Come on people...time travel and multiple universe theories are starting to look pretty good right about now. Is this related to the "Magic Box" that Ben referred to when Locke's father appeared on the Island? Quite possible!
CS Lewis...Charlotte...The Great Divorce...people are talking...and Ben's "man on their boat" yeah, my personal favorite theory on that...Charlotte = "man" on the boat.
Obvious Narnia reference (for those preferring a different real world vs. Island timeline) with the inclusion of our own C.S. Lewis. (Narnia, land where time functions differently, outsiders only can enter when "Narnia" allows them to enter...)
Frank
Hairy pilot...previously people had speculated that he could possibly be Jacob...fitting the bill of scraggly older guy with wild hair...what do you think? I'm not yet convinced...although, if he was "supposed to pilot that flight" perhaps he does have a connection to the Island, other than the obvious guilt that would have come upon him after seeing that his replacement crashed the plane and there were "no survivors". Or do you think his frantic phone call to the Occeanic hotline got him into this whole mess of having to take more outsiders to the Island?
Is anyone else convinced that Oceanic and Dharma are in cohoots? Perhaps they are just shells of a larger entity that we know nothing about yet...
Pictures
What about the pictures? When we first saw Naomi, she was carrying around a picture of Desmond, the other guy on the freighter, Miles, he was carrying around a picture of Ben. What's the deal? Is Desmond more of a Dharma player than we ever could have conceived? When did Ben leave the Island? Did Ben (and possibly) Desmond use the Orchid Dharma station for time travel back to the "real world"? Why was the computer not plugged in when Ben was walking through what looked like airport security wearing a awful vest? Could this have been taken at the same airport that Juliet was taken to when she took her voyage to the Island? I mean really, why would they need to check luggage? The computer would be for show anyway...no need to waste the power...
Cow
Where exactly did Frank land the helicopter? Apparently in or near cow pasture. Was this a hyllucentation a la Kate's horse, or was this a real cow? I am leaning towards "real cow" and quite possibly a Dharma sustainance cow, vs a Dharma experiemental cow. Could Frank have landed near the barracks? Is this how the two bands of Losties will meet up again only to re-pick teams? Perhaps.
Episode Title
"Confirmed Dead"...we know these titles have meaning. Is this to show that the outside world thinks Oceanic 815 is dead? Obviously there will be a HUGE rescue story when Jack & Co. make it back to the real world...no wonder they have "star/hero status"...wonder what the amazing rescue story will be...

Favorite Quote of the Week:
Sawyer: "Who are we to argue with Taller Ghost Walt?"
And with that, I'm out...and much more pleased with Blog 2 of Season 4, if I may say so myself.
