I was surprisingly pleased with this episode, although lots of observations lead to random tangent thoughts when it was all over...
- Why is there a quiet end of ship and what was up with that blood stain that "shouldn't still be there"? Looks like someone got shot...and was probably thrown overboard. Do we think the freighter folks know they have a spy in their midst? Did Michael/Kevin do the shooting? Is the Captain *really* the captain?
- So, when Ben says he's "one of the good guys" do we think he's right, not just in his own mind, but in the grand scheme of Widmore vs Island Ben is playing protector to the Island while Widmore is trying to take control over the Island? In the end will we be overcome with gratitude for Ben? That would make re-watching this series quite interesting. You'd watch it with a whole different mindset...now that's a way to sell some DVDs!
- Juliet's a jerk. That goes against some Woman Code doesn't it? Using a woman's secrets against her, a woman you are attempting to claim as a "friend"? If she wanted to maintain Sun's trust, she blew it...doesn't she realize that most women hold grudges? Duh!
- Regina was really messed up. Now there is no one left for Daniel to get to help with his experiments...are there any "scientists" left on the freighter, or did they just dump off Charlotte and Daniel and never intend to retrieve them from the Island? What is Miles up too? Still gnawing on that grenade?
- This whole two plane thing is weird...and difficult to understand. At first I thought, oh yeah, Ben planted the other plane and used the bodies from the purge to fill it...but we saw where the purge bodies were (Locke fell into the mass grave). Plus, in this day and age, those bodies would have easily been determined to be fakes by dental records, DNA, fingerprinting, etc...silly Rach. Again this leads me back to the multiple universe/timeline theory...what if when Desmond didn't push the button causing Oceanic 815 to crash it was flying over the "special Island airspace" and suddenly the planes were cloned? A course correction of sorts occurred...in the real world that plane should be down, with no survivors. Granted this doesn't help the whole "wrong pilot with no wedding ring" that Frank noticed on the news footage of the 815 dive, nor does it help clarify how they are going to explain the Oceanic 6 and where they have been and why their bodies were initially counted with the rest of the passengers at the bottom of the ocean...I freaking love this show!
- How much do we think Ben really knows about the Island? Does Ben know about time difference? Does Ben use those time differences to his advantage? My guess is lots, yes, and obviously.
- Oceanic 6 is now solidified. I'm pleased.
- Why Hurley? Would he really travel that far to see Sun and the baby? You'd think Hurley of all the Oceanic 6 would now have an aversion to flying...did something happen to make Hurley and Sun buds?
- Last, but not least, so far we have seen four flash-forwards...this is my attempt to put them in chronological order: Sun has baby & sane Hurley visits, Kate's trial and Aaron reveal, Hurley sees Charlie at nut-house, Jack's infamous season 3 bearded finale. The Kate episode could have happened before Sun having the baby depending on any Island/World time differences which could cause Aaron to age more rapidly than a normal child (particularly important if you're in the grown-up Walt was really Walt crowd).
That's all for now...unless I think of something else to add later!
